NAVIGAR closes an existing gap between publicly operated traffic management and private-sector navigation providers.
Up to now, the different actors have been acting independently and uncoordinated on a large scale, which can cause problems in urban traffic management due to inconsistent information of road users. NAVIGAR links traffic control centres with navigation systems.
Consistent provision of traffic information across all services
This leads to
- Improving road safety
- Improving traffic flow and increasing traffic efficiency
- Reduction of traffic-related environmental pollution (noise, particulate matter, NOx)
The design of the interfaces according to European standards ensures transferability and interoperability.
