• Infrastructure safety and protection

How can large infrastructure facilities such as tunnels, bridges, railway stations and underground stops, airports, stadiums, meeting points and utilities be operated safely, efficiently and cost-effectively? What is the best evacuation plan for junctions such as railway stations or airports? How do you guarantee safe arrival and departure at a major event? How can we ensure the supply of services? These are important questions to which we provide the answers. Together we can develop appropriate safety and operational concepts for infrastructure facilities.

We follow a holistic approach and take structural, operational and organisational aspects into account. Our spectrum of services ranges from the analysis and evaluation of safety concepts to the planning and design of traffic control technology and the operational equipment of infrastructure facilities.

To assess the safety of infrastructure facilities, we use quantitative risk analyses and highly complex fire and evacuation simulation models. These allow us to identify and eliminate weak points and optimise rescue measures. Special attention is paid to the combination of flow / fire and pedestrian simulation in order to be able to realistically model escape behaviour.

We develop and verify traffic and spatial concepts with the help of macro- and microscopic traffic models. This model-based approach allows us to analyse various scenarios in detail, from the regular operation of an event to exceptional situations including the corresponding escape strategies.

We provide consulting support in the following areas ...

    • Safety and operational concepts
    • Fire prevention concepts
    • Traffic and space concepts for major events
    • Planning of control technology and operational equipment
  • Tunnels are extremely efficient and effective infrastructure facilities that contribute to an environmentally friendly and climate-friendly management of traffic volumes. Our know-how of tunnel equipment and operation enables us to develop solutions for energy-efficient, cost-efficient and safe tunnel operation.
