Plan, Optimize and Communicate Better Transit Networks

PTV Lines 2027 helps public transport planners turn network concepts into operationally informed, accessible and clearly communicated plans. New capabilities support vehicle blocking, configurable layover rules, route-wide run time updates and more realistic accessibility calculations. Enhanced map and graphic exports help teams present network changes more efficiently, supporting workflows from service planning and operational assessment to stakeholder communication.

Optimize Vehicle Schedules and Operating Costs

Assess the operational cost of planned timetables with automated vehicle blocking. PTV Lines 2027 creates efficient vehicle schedules and shows fleet requirements, vehicle use and costs across service trips, deadhead trips, layovers and depot activities. Compare vehicle types, depot strategies, costs and layover rules to balance fleet efficiency with the required level of service.

Communicate Network Changes with Clearer Maps

Create presentation-ready public transport maps directly from the planned network. Highlight route diversions, extensions, shortenings and stop changes, then customize lines, stops, corridors, legends, text and icons. PTV Lines helps teams explain network proposals more clearly and prepare decision-ready materials without manually recreating maps in a separate design or mapping application.

Calculate Accessibility Over Realistic Departure Windows

Evaluate public transport accessibility with more representative departure assumptions. Instead of calculating results from one exact start time, PTV Lines 2027 lets planners define a time span and use the first available departure within that window. This reduces outlier results from missed connections and makes accessibility analysis easier to apply without repeatedly adjusting the start time manually.

Configure Layover Rules for More Realistic Schedules

Reflect operational layover requirements more accurately in vehicle calculations. Instead of relying on a fixed 16% assumption, PTV Lines 2027 lets planners define minimum layover times as a percentage of travel time, a fixed number of minutes, or both. The system applies the higher value automatically, supporting more realistic fleet, cost and schedule results.

Update Run Times Across Entire Routes

Adjust timetable run times faster and more consistently across a line route. PTV Lines 2027 lets planners update run times for all stop points along a route at once, making it easier to apply travel time changes without editing each stop point individually. This supports more efficient timetable maintenance and reduces the risk of inconsistent manual adjustments.

Export Presentation-Ready Planning Graphics

Create clear visuals of a public transport plan directly from PTV Lines. Graphic Export lets planners use selected styles, annotations and visual elements to prepare presentation-ready outputs. Export settings are saved locally, so planners can return later with their previous setup restored automatically or reset to the default when needed.
