Optimize Traffic Operations with Better Insights: PTV Flows

PTV Flows 2027 helps traffic management teams make better use of live and historical network data. New capabilities connect customer-owned detector sources directly into PTV Flows for richer traffic information and volume analysis, while Sentinel automatically identifies unusually congested zones and highlights where operator attention is needed. Together, these updates support more focused monitoring, faster triage and a clearer view of network conditions.

Automatic Congestion Detection with Sentinel

Help operators focus on network conditions that need attention. Sentinel automatically detects unusually congested zones network-wide and notifies operators in near real time, reducing manual KPI monitoring. In PTV Flows 2027, critical zones are highlighted and ranked by “attention required,” so operators can triage events, inspect flagged zones, understand why they were detected and decide on action. Sentinel uses existing floating car data and requires no roadside installation for this capability.

Detector Data Integration

Make better use of customer-owned traffic detection hardware in PTV Flows. The Detectors module connects data from loops, radars, cameras, parking occupancy systems and other detector sources directly into the software. Detector data can be ingested via API, then stored and analyzed historically in Historical Data Analysis (HDA). Users can replay detector history and review measured volumes in the HDA Replay map to support richer traffic information for operational analysis.

Integrated traffic management with an extended planning horizon: PTV Optima

PTV Optima 2027 enables operators to plan further ahead and facilitates the connection of external data to the Optima network. KPIs for operational planning can now be evaluated over horizons of up to 24 hours, and a new public service maps external route and probe data onto the Optima network.

Extended Operational Planning Horizon

Evaluate the network over the relevant time horizon. Operational Planning KPIs in PTV Optima 2027 support a configurable forecast distance of up to 24 hours from the start of a simulation. This provides operators and planners with greater flexibility to evaluate network performance over longer planning horizons, supporting more informed decision-making across operational scenarios.

Public Route Matcher Service

Bring external route and probe data onto the PTV Optima network without building your own map matching system. The new Public Route Matcher service translates an ordered sequence of coordinates into the most plausible route on the PTV Optima network. This service is available to developers and system integrators via a supported API. This means that integrations can be connected faster and interpret routes consistently, rather than each one having to maintain its own matching logic.
